Walgreen's 15% Family Discount Coupon, Friday 2/12 Only

Walgreen's has just released a printable coupon good for 15% off your total purchase at Walgreen's on Friday, February 12th only.  You MUST check out at the photo or cosmetics counter to get the discount and you MUST show it to the cashier BEFORE checking out.  I've saved a bunch using this discount in the past.  Combine with any other Wags or manufacturer's coupons you were planning to use to increase the savings!

Expired Coupons?

Did you ever wonder what use could be made of your expired coupons?  Your expired coupons can be used by military families overseas!  The Overseas Coupon Program has several suggestions:

• There is NO MINIMUM.  Even the smallest donations when combined with others will make a big difference in the lives of military families.
• They recommend not sending coupons that are over 2 months expired by the shipping date.  Most of the coupons can be used overseas for 6 months past their expiration date.  Volunteers on the base need to process the coupons and families need to go through them to see which coupons they need.  That takes time.
• "Manufacturer's Coupons" are the only coupons of use to these families.  Store coupons, such as Target or others cannot be used.
• Coupons need to be cut from inserts - it saves processing time and money when shipping.  Coupons also need to be sorted into "food" and "non-food" bundles and placed in envelopes or ziploc bags.
• Buy something and get something by mail coupons (for example, Buy 5 Sudafed, receive a stuffed bear by mail) can also be used.  They make for inexpensive Christmas gifts for children.

It seems such a waste to throw away our expired coupons when they can be used by such deserving families!  This would be a great family project.  I know my grandchildren enjoy using scissors!  All the information you need can be found at the Overseas Coupon Program website:  what coupons to send, where to send them, how to send them, etc.  With little effort, we have the opportunity to bless the families of those servicemen and servicewomen who are defending freedom around the world.

Great Ground Beef Deal at Albertsons 8 Hour Sale

A fellow couponer called this morning to give me a heads up on the Albertson's 8 Hour Sale TODAY.  She recommends the Fresh Extra Lean Ground Beef (85% lean), 3 lbs or more available in the service meat counter for $1.57/lb.  This is a great stock-up price.

Check the mid-week ad for other sale items and head on over to Albertson's this afternoon.  Just a note:  if the Albertson's you shop is out of the ground beef when you get there -- they'll give you a raincheck!

UPDATE:  Bought 12 lbs. of ground beef -- the guy at the butcher counter already had it packaged before I even got there and had it waiting for me.  The whole trip took 10 minutes, max.  Spent $18.85, Saved $29.01!  Came home and packaged the meat into smaller amounts and was getting ready to put it in the freezer when my hubby asked if we could put some on the George Foreman grill tonight.  Can't wait for dinner.  What a great deal!

Smith's Shop & Tell

Yes, that's 12 packages of Kraft shredded cheese!  I haven't really grocery shopped for awhile, so there were several items we needed that weren't actually on sale.  But that's how it goes when we shop.  We won't have a coupon for EVERY item.  That's okay.

The total value of this order was $128.51.  I spent $67.76 and saved $60.75 for a 47% savings.  When you use the Grocery Smarts system, you should be able to realize close to or more than a 50% savings on each shopping trip you make.  It adds up to BIG savings over the long haul.  Keep on shopping and saving!

CVS Shop & Tell

So here's another one -- today's trip to CVS.

You'll probably begin to notice I'm in somewhat of a 'stock-up' mode.  The two 6-pack Bounty's, 4 Febreze's and 1 Colgate Toothpaste are valued at $47.86.  I spent $23.43 for a 51% savings.  What you don't see in the totals here is that I walked out with $12 in extra care bonuses to be used on my next shopping trip.  Yippee!

Walgreen's Shop & Tell

It's been some time since I posted any "shop and tell" pictures.  So here goes . . . .

The total value of this order is $112.13.  I know, I know.  But these are some bigger ticket items, and our family needs and uses them.  I paid $52.83 PLUS I still have $10 in register rewards.  Sweet, huh?

So altogether I saved $59.30.  That's 53%!  Pretty good for these types of items.
