This article came to my attention and I thought you might enjoy reading it in its entirety.  If so, just click on the link below.  It was interesting to see how coupon usage has increased so rapidly over the last couple years.  The example of shoppers in the article seemed a little extreme to me (and maybe that's what the author was shooting for).

One fact is true:  There is money to be saved in purchasing your groceries in combination with coupons!  The 'tried and true' Grocery Smarts method seems so logical to use.  We not only save money on our groceries by using coupons, but also save time in finding the best deals on the Grocery Smarts website with coupon matchups for those sale items.

Hard Times Turn Coupon Clipping Into the Newest Extreme Sport

"For decades, shoppers clipped coupons from newspaper circulars, magazines and coupon booklets. Redemptions peaked in the early 1990s, and couponing gradually declined as grocers launched loyalty-card programs that rewarded repeat shoppers with discounts.

"But amid the recession last year, the number of coupons redeemed rose 27%, to 3.3 billion from 2.6 billion in 2008, says Inmar Inc., a coupon-processing agent. The year-over-year percentage increase was the largest since Inmar started tracking the statistic more than 20 years ago.

"Fueling the increase isn't the general populace but heavy coupon users, people who redeem 104 or more coupons over six months, according to an August report by The Nielsen Co. These users tend to be females under the age of 54 with college degrees and household incomes above $70,000, Nielsen says."

Okay, so I tore through my Sunday paper this morning looking for the promised P&G insert . . . . NO LUCK!  If you remember, I told you about a meeting with a rep from the RJ saying the insert would be in this mornings paper.  Oh, well.  I believe the P&G insert will be included in some future paper . . . at least I hope it will be included!

P&G Saver In This Sunday's Review Journal

In a meeting earlier this week, a Review Journal representative told our group the P&G brand Saver will be included with the Smart Source inserts in this Sunday's newspaper.  Whoo-hoo!  This particular insert has over $162 worth of coupons inside.  If you receive multiple newspapers, (I receive 5 Sunday papers) your savings will be phenomenal!  That's $810 in possible savings for me!
